ITINERARY OF-THE IMPERIAL 11 DAYS TOURS FROM MARRAKECH

Arrival in Marrakech, you will be greeted and transferred to your accommodation or traditional riad. Take some time to relax and settle in. Overnight stay in Marrakech.

Morning – Departure from Marrakech (Around 8:00 AM)
As planned, our team will meet you in the lobby of your hotel at around 8 a.m. From there, we begin our adventure heading southeast, exploring some of the most scenic and culturally rich regions of Morocco.

We start our journey by driving through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, we’ll make a few scenic stops to stretch our legs and take photos of the breathtaking views, traditional Berber villages, and the rugged natural beauty that defines this mountainous region.

Midday – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah
After about 4 hours on the road, we reach Ait Ben Haddou, an iconic ksar (fortified village) made of clay and straw, and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historical gem has been featured in numerous international films and series including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. You’ll have time to explore the narrow alleys, climb to the top for panoramic views, and imagine the stories these ancient walls could tell.

Lunch can be enjoyed either in Ait Ben Haddou itself or in Ouarzazate, just 30 minutes away, depending on your preference.

Afternoon – Ouarzazate & The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs
In Ouarzazate, often referred to as the Hollywood of Africa, we visit the famous Atlas Film Studios, the largest film studio in the world by land area. Here, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the biggest productions ever filmed in Morocco.

Afterward, we continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing countless ancient fortresses that line the valley. Our next highlight is the Valley of Roses, near Kelaat M’gouna. If you’re visiting during spring, you’ll be welcomed by blooming pink roses all along the road. You’ll also get to discover how locals process these fragrant blossoms into perfumes, soaps, and other rose-based products.

Evening – Arrival at Dades Valley
We end our day in the serene Dades Valley (Boumalne Dades), known for its winding gorges, dramatic rock formations, and lush valley views. You’ll spend the night in a charming local riad or hotel, with dinner included, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of this magical place.

Morning – From Dades Valley to the Canyons of Todra
After a peaceful night and a hearty Moroccan breakfast at your accommodation in Dades Valley, our  team will pick you up around 9:00 AM to begin the second leg of your desert journey.

Leaving Boumalne behind, we drive toward Tinghir, home to one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural wonders — the Todra Gorge. These towering limestone cliffs reach heights of up to 300 meters, forming a breathtaking canyon carved by the Todra River. It’s a popular destination for rock climbers from around the world, and if you’re lucky, you might catch them scaling the vertical walls during your visit.

As you walk along the clear, cool stream at the base of the gorge, you’ll also get a glimpse into the traditional life of the nearby nomadic communities. These families still live in cave dwellings and often bring their animals — goats, donkeys, and sheep — to fetch water from the gorge’s springs.

Midday – From Todra to the Gateway of the Sahara
After a refreshing stroll through the gorge, we continue toward Tinjdad or a nearby village for a local lunch experience. Shortly afterward, we pass through Erfoud, a town known for its fossil workshops and succulent dates harvested from the vast Ziz Valley, a stretch of lush palm groves cutting through the desert landscape.

By mid-afternoon, we reach the edge of the Sahara Desert, arriving in the golden dunes of Merzouga, one of the most iconic and photogenic places in North Africa.

Overnight in a comfortable desert

at riad next dunes

Morning: Into the Dunes
Your day begins with an off-road adventure through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in a 4×4 vehicle. This striking landscape, shaped by wind and time, offers a breathtaking introduction to the vast and serene Sahara desert.

Visit to Nomad Families
We’ll stop to meet local nomadic families who have lived in this harsh yet beautiful environment for generations. You’ll be welcomed with traditional Saharan hospitality — a warm cup of mint tea and perhaps a taste of fresh, fire-baked bread. It’s a rare opportunity to glimpse their way of life, shaped by simplicity, resilience, and deep-rooted tradition.

Khamlia Village – Rhythm of the Desert
Next, we visit Khamlia, a small village known for its inhabitants of sub-Saharan origin. Here, you’ll experience the soulful Gnawa music, a spiritual blend of rhythm and chanting passed down through generations. Their performances are more than just entertainment — they are a living expression of heritage and identity.

Rissani Market: A Living Piece of History

Afternoon: Explore the Ancient Market of Sijilmassa
From the dunes, we head to Rissani, once the thriving capital of the medieval kingdom of Sijilmassa. This historic town was a crucial node in trans-Saharan trade, where gold, salt, and slaves once passed through on camel caravans linking Mali and Morocco.

Today, Rissani’s market remains authentic and bustling, especially on market days — Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Unlike the tourist souks of larger cities, this market serves local residents, farmers, and nomads. Wander through stalls of fresh dates, spices, livestock, and handcrafted goods, witnessing the rhythms of daily life that haven’t changed much in centuries.

Erg Chebbi Dunes – Camel Trek & Desert Camp

After a traditional Moroccan lunch in one of the village’s charming local restaurants, we’ll set off on a camel trek into the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes — a sea of golden sand sculpted by the wind.

As the sun dips toward the horizon, the desert transforms into a palette of warm colors. Riding gently across the dunes on camelback, you’ll experience the quiet beauty of the Sahara at its most magical.

By twilight, we’ll arrive at our desert camp, tucked among the dunes. Here, beneath a sky glittering with stars, you’ll relax around the fire while our Berber hosts prepare a freshly made dinner — full of flavor, tradition, and hospitality. The evening ends with music, stories, and the unforgettable peace of the desert night.

Sunrise Over the Dunes & Journey to Fes

After a peaceful night under the stars, we recommend rising early to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Sahara. As the first light spills across the dunes, the desert awakens in silence and color — a truly unforgettable sight.

Following this magical moment, enjoy a hearty traditional breakfast at camp before returning to the village, either by camel or 4WD, taking in the early morning stillness of the desert.

the journey continues northward through Errachidia and the lush palm groves of the Ziz Valley, offering a beautiful contrast to the desert landscapes. By midday, we’ll reach Midelt, nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, where we’ll stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, we travel through the Cedar Forests of Azrou, often home to playful Barbary macaques. Then we pass through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean, crisp air — a surprising and picturesque stop.

Finally, we arrive in Fes, where you’ll spend the night in a charming riad in the heart of the old Medina — a perfect way to end your journey, surrounded by history, culture, and traditional Moroccan hospitality

Fes Discovery Tour – A Journey Through Time

After breakfast at your riad, you’ll meet your knowledgeable local guide and begin your full-day exploration of Fes, one of the oldest and most culturally rich cities in Morocco.

Your tour begins at the magnificent Royal Palace (Dar el-Makhzen), with its impressive golden gates and beautifully decorated facades — a symbol of the city’s royal heritage.

Next, you’ll visit the Mellah, the historic Jewish Quarter, home to a 17th-century synagogue that tells the story of the once-flourishing Jewish community in Fes.

You’ll continue on to the prestigious University of al-Qarawiyyin, originally founded as a mosque in 859 AD. Today, it is recognized as one of the oldest existing and continually operating educational institutions in the world — a vital center of spiritual and intellectual life throughout Islamic history.

Then, discover the famous Chouara Tannery, the largest and oldest in the Fes medina. From surrounding terraces, you’ll get a striking view of the colorful dyeing pits — a centuries-old leather-making tradition still practiced today.

As you wander deeper into the ancient souks and narrow alleys of the old Medina, you’ll be immersed in a world of artisans, spices, textiles, and everyday life. Stop for a delicious local lunch tucked away in one of the Medina’s hidden corners — a true taste of Fes.

In the afternoon, you’ll drive to the northern hills of Fes, offering a panoramic view over the winding streets and rooftops of the Medina — a perfect photo opportunity and moment of reflection.

To complete the day, you’ll visit a traditional Moroccan pottery and ceramics workshop, where skilled local artisans create intricate, hand-painted designs using centuries-old techniques.

Finally, your guide will return you to your riad, where you’ll spend your second night in Fes, enriched by a deeper understanding of this remarkable city.

From Fes to Rabat and Casablanca – A Royal Journey

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the timeless charm of Fes as we begin our journey toward Rabat, the elegant capital of Morocco, followed by Casablanca, the country’s largest city.

In Rabat, you’ll explore the imposing Hassan Tower, an ambitious structure commissioned in 1195 by Sultan Ya’qub al-Mansur. Though left unfinished, the tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world and remains an awe-inspiring landmark of Almohad architecture.

Facing the tower is the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a beautifully designed resting place for Morocco’s beloved monarch and his two sons — King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah. The white marble structure, adorned with traditional zellij tilework and guarded by royal guards in ceremonial dress, is a symbol of Moroccan reverence for its history and monarchy.

Next, visit the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortified Andalusian-style neighborhood dating back to the 12th century. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this peaceful enclave features narrow streets lined with white and blue-washed homes, lush gardens, and breathtaking sea views.

After enjoying the atmosphere of Rabat, we continue on to Casablanca, the economic heart of Morocco and Africa’s second-largest city. Upon arrival, we’ll take you to your riad, where you can unwind and spend the night in comfort.

Casablanca Exploration & Journey to Marrakech

In the morning, we begin our tour of Casablanca, Morocco’s largest and most modern city. With our team, you’ll explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Our first stop is the Hassan II Mosque, one of the most breathtaking religious structures in the world. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it is the second-largest mosque in Africa and the fifth-largest in the world. Its towering minaret, intricate craftsmanship, and oceanfront location make it a truly awe-inspiring sight. Notably, this mosque is one of the few in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors.

Next, enjoy a stroll along the Corniche, Casablanca’s vibrant seaside promenade. From here, you’ll have a great view of the mosque while taking in the rhythm of the waves and the breeze from the Atlantic — a perfect moment to relax and reflect.
